Landmine Explosion Kills Four in Pakistan
The explosion happened at approximately 6:20 a.m. local time (0120 GMT) in Kurram, a tribal district, when a group of woodcutters inadvertently triggered an improvised explosive device (IED), media reported, citing district police sources.
Emergency responders transported the wounded to a nearby medical facility. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast. However, authorities believe the IED may have been planted during previous sectarian violence as a defensive measure.
An official investigation into the incident is currently underway.
